What I Actually Pack for a Bookish Trip (E-Reader, Tote & Travel Essentials)

If you’ve seen any of my Kindle Takes London videos, you already know: traveling as a reader is honestly the easiest kind of trip to pack for. No stack of paperbacks eating up suitcase space, no “which three books do I actually need” spiral β€” just one little e-reader doing all the heavy lifting. Here’s exactly what’s in my travel nook, the bag I never leave home without, and the extras that make a long flight or train ride actually feel comfortable.

The Bag Itself

Everything starts with the right bag. For travel days, mine is the Longchamp Le Pliage Large Tote in Green with Brown Leather Trim β€” structured enough to actually keep you organized, but soft enough to squish into an overhead bin.

This is also my go-to when the Longchamp feels a little too precious for the day’s chaos: a puffer tote that’s roomy enough for my e-reader, a water bottle, and a laptop without looking stuffed, and can take a beating without me babying it.

What’s Actually Inside

Kindle Basic Matcha β€” my go-to travel e-reader. Fast, light, and honestly the whole reason packing for a reading trip is this easy.

β†’ https://amzn.to/3TpZk8s

Kindle Paperwhite Signature edition β€” fast, light, and has the most gorgeous screen. Depending on the location I will bring either this kindle or my matcha.

β†’ https://link.amazon/B08j38czU

AirPods Pro β€” for the flight, the train, and tuning out everyone around me.

β†’ https://link.amazon/B0c5OmXUz

Ear plugs β€” for when even noise-canceling isn’t enough.

β†’ https://link.amazon/B0aGFPkmg

Reading light β€” non-negotiable for reading after lights-out on a plane or in a hotel room.

β†’ https://link.amazon/B01YwY3q7

Neck pillow β€” I’ve tried more travel neck pillows than I’d like to admit, and this is the one that actually stuck around. It’s ultra-light, doesn’t eat up space in my bag, and somehow makes an economy seat feel like a real place to sleep.

Lens wipes β€” keeps my glasses (and my camera) actually clean on the go.

Coffee & Drinkware

Owala travel mug β€” I’m genuinely obsessed with this mug. It keeps my coffee hot for hours, not the “kind of warm” thing insulated mugs usually pull, which matters when I’m trying to get through emails and a chapter before the day even starts.

β†’ https://link.amazon/B06pQUsRL

Travel tumbler β€” this lives in my cup holder on every travel day. The handle sounds like a small detail until you’re juggling a boarding pass, a Kindle, and a tote bag all at once.

β†’ https://link.amazon/B01JmTZiQ

Beauty Bag Extras (Because Comfort Is Half the Trip)

Lip balm β€” a little pink tint, keeps my lips from feeling awful on a dry flight.

β†’ https://link.amazon/B07hpx2dT

Face oil β€” lightweight, absorbs fast, keeps my skin from feeling like the Sahara by hour six.

β†’ https://link.amazon/B0iECs1w1

Skin brightener β€” for landing looking like I didn’t just sit on a plane for hours.

What’s in my bag for a work trip

Want to see this bag in action? I also break it all down in What’s In My Bag As a Book Girlie β€” same energy, slightly different angle. And if you haven’t watched the rest of Kindle Takes London yet, that’s where this whole trip lives.
